Administration
Mr. Richard Reed is a native of Franklin County, Tennessee. He began his teaching career in 2000 at Teen Learning Center, Stones River Academy. Mr. Reed was later hired as an eighth-grade literature teacher at Cedar Grove Elementary.
Upon Rutherford County Schools adopting the middle school concept, Mr. Reed was hired at Rock Springs Middle School where he taught eighth grade ELA for 13 years. During his tenure at Rock Springs, Mr. Reed served as Dean of Students, Language Arts Department Chair, Athletic Director, and Head and Assistant Coach for Boys and Girls Basketball, Track, Baseball, and Football. He was awarded teacher of the year in 2007. Mr. Reed became Assistant Principal of LaVergne Middle school in 2015.
Mr. Reed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Middle Tennessee State University in 2000. In 2005, he also earned his Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision from MTSU. He is a trained ACT instructor and Certified Professional Life and Group Coach with an emphasis in working with young men searching for their God-ordained purpose and path in life. For Mr. Reed, developing and maintaining constructive relationships with his former and current students, student-athletes, youth group members, and family are his “Why.”
Mrs. Jana Pope-Moorman was raised in Clarksville, TN, and graduated from Northeast High School with honors. Growing up in a military community, she grew up as a cultured teenager and valued the diversity of her peers. Mrs. Pope began her employment with Rutherford County Schools in 2010 at LaVergne Middle School as an educational assistant. In 2013, she started her teaching career, he began teaching 8th grade Science.
During her tenure at LMS, Mrs. Pope co-coached cheer, sponsored the Beta Club, served as Grade Level Chair, Science Department Chair, was a part of the Leadership Committee, and received the title of Middle School Teacher of the Year from the National Hook Up of Black Women. In 2018, Mrs. Pope began serving as a Title I Instructional Coach and later as a school administrator.
Mrs. Pope earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Management with a focus on Business Technology in 2010. In 2013, Mrs. Pope was selected into the Nashville Teaching Fellows, where she earned her teaching licensure. In 2021, Mrs. Pope entered the Diverse Leaders Program and earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University.
Mrs. Pope is a wife and mother of 2 sons. Mrs. Pope enjoys serving in the LaVergne community, traveling, and learning. Her goals are to proactively find ways to make the job of teaching more attractive, help teachers become effective as quick as possible, and have a significant positive impact on the education and well-being of a community.
Mrs. Tamara Martin Farmer is a Murfreesboro native and a proud 1999 graduate of Oakland High School. She attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN where she was an athletic trainer and member of the Lynx Softball team. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 2003, she returned home to be a Spanish teacher for the inaugural year of Siegel High School. Mrs. Farmer spent twenty years at Siegel where she served as Dean of students, PLC leader, World Language Department chair, and sponsor of Future Teachers of America; she also worked for many years with the Softball and the Boys’ Basketball teams, as well as coordinated many other programs and community events – including those with the Hispanic community.
Mrs. Farmer would continue her education at Middle Tennessee State University, graduating with a Master of Arts in Teaching concentrating on Foreign Language & Literature in 2005, as well as her Education Specialist in Administration & Supervision in 2012. She has served at the district level as a representative on textbook adoption committee, curriculum committee, calendar committee, and the educator advisory committee. She has also served as a teacher, site director and coordinator for RCS Summer School for many years.
Mrs. Farmer is an avid sports fan- especially softball & football for the University of Oklahoma! She also enjoys travelling and making memories with her husband, family & friends. Mrs. Farmer is very excited to join the LMS family and wants to share her passion for life-long learning, cultural diversity, and creating meaningful & lasting relationships.
