Stevens' Science Class - May 11, 2023

1. Please complete your Year-end Science Project poster, if you haven't already done so. These are to be completed today.
 
2. BrainPops 1, 2, & 3 have been loaded and to be completed within the class period for review/grade.

Ideas to choose from:

Rome – Aqueducts, Sanitation, Paved roadways, Hypocaust system, Arches, Sundial, Surgical tools

Greece – Gears, Archimedes screw, Water mill, Odometer, Cartography, Geometry

China – Earthquake detector, Iron smelting, Bronze, Paper, Boat Rudder, Seed drill/Row crop farming, Silk

Egypt – Surgical advancements, Toothbrush/Toothpaste, ox-drawn plow, Irrigation, Sickle, Cosmetics, Mummification

India – Flush toilet systems, Weighing scale, Dentistry, Plastic Surgery, Ayurveda, Ruler, Idea of Zero and decimals

1. Divide the paper into 3 sections.

You will need a minimum of 3 facts for each item you research, as well as photos/diagrams of the item.  You should provide an explanation of the impact of this item to society. (5-7 sentences)

2. Model: 

You will build a working model of ONE of the items you researched.  You will present this to the class and explain how it works.

Tornado and Additional Severe weather fill-in worksheet

1. Re-read the tornadoes worksheet and finish the fill-in in sheet we started in class on Thursday, February 2. All answers can be found in the reading.
Make sure your name and class/block are on the sheet. This gets passed in before end of  class.
 
2. You will be provided a different severe weather worskeet today. Read the
information on the sheet and fill in the missing information. Make sure your name and class/block are on the sheet and pass in before the end of class. This worksheet and the tornado worksheet, will count together as a grade so be sure to do your best.
 
If you are done with both sheets, comepete these items, in this order:
 

a) Go to Actively Learn – “What Are The Characteristics of A Strong Hurricane?”
