Dear Parents:

Welcome to the new school year!  My name is Janice Brown-Adams and I will be your child’s 6th Grade English Language Art Inclusion teacher for this coming school year.  I am also the one of the 6th grade Special Education Case Manager/Teacher.  I am excited to have your child in my class and very excited to get a chance to lead your child through a wonderful and fascinating experience over the next nine months.

I have extremely high expectations of all my students.  I will be expecting all work assigned in class to be completed. Of course, all students do not work at the same pace.  Some will get their work done in class and some will not.  Whether or not your child gets his or her work done in class has no effect on their grade.  If your child does not complete an assignment in class, he or she will be required to complete it at home. The way you can help is to ask your child every school day if schoolwork needs to be done, and if so, make sure your child completes his or her assignments.  I am asking for your help to maintain these expectations by making sure your child get enough rest each school night, study for assessments, complete homework assignments and check Jupiter to make sure that your child's has completed all his/her tasks.

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me, I am available to talk to you daily between 8:45 am - 9:30 am and 2:10 pm-3:00 pm, or you may e-mail me. My contact information is Phone: 615-904-3877, Fax: 615-904-3878 and
